Athletes at The Woodlands Christian Academy Are Already Feeling the Difference
When The Woodlands Christian Academy returned to its home field, the change was immediately noticeable.
Players stepping onto the school's new Pivot® Performance Turf surface began sharing similar observations. The footing felt familiar. Movements felt natural. And after training and competition, many noticed something else: fewer of the surface-related complaints often associated with traditional synthetic turf systems.
Built Around Athlete Feedback
Developed at the Center for Turf Innovation (CTI), Pivot was created with a simple objective: better understand how athletes interact with the surface beneath them and use those insights to shape a different kind of turf system.
Researchers collected biomechanical data and athlete feedback during extensive testing, studying how players accelerate, decelerate, cut, and change direction during sport-specific movements. Those findings helped guide the development of a fiber-filled system designed to deliver a playing experience that feels familiar to athletes transitioning from natural grass.
At The Woodlands Christian Academy, that design philosophy is already being reflected in player feedback.
According to Athletic Director Randy Hollas, athletes have commented on the footing, release, and overall feel of the surface compared to previous turf systems.
Ready for the Season
Installing a new field during football season required careful planning. Hellas completed the installation of a Max Flo+ shockpad and Pivot surface during a narrow window between games, utilizing the team's scheduled bye week and an away game to minimize disruption to the season.
The result was a fully upgraded multi-purpose field delivered in time for the Warriors' return home.
More Than a New Field
For schools, the value of a field extends far beyond game day. It becomes a place for training sessions, physical education, community events, and countless hours of activity throughout the year. The ability to provide a reliable, durable surface while delivering a positive athlete experience is increasingly important for schools managing busy athletic programs.
